NEET 2023 Biology Syllabus & Important Chapters & their weightage in NEET exam

National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) is the national level examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). NEET exam is a combination of three subjects i.e. physics, chemistry and biology. Students should prepare all three subjects equally to get a good rank. To get a good score in the NEET exam, knowing the syllabus is the most important thing. We have already discussed the NEET 2023 syllabus in detail in a separate blog. In this article, we will understand the biology syllabus for NEET 2023 exam.

The NEET biology syllabus includes 10 chapters from the Class 11 & Class 12 biology NCERT syllabus. It consists of two parts, i.e. Zoology & Botany. Before discussing the biology syllabus in detail, let us know the importance of Biology in the NEET exam.

Why Biology is important for the NEET exam?

  1.  Marks Distribution: - All three subjects (physics, chemistry & biology) are essential; however, the NEET exam pattern is such that Biology carries 360 marks. 90 questions out of 180 questions in the NEET exam are taken from Biology. This marks distribution makes NEET BIOLOGY the most crucial subject.
  2. Easiest Subject: - Also, previous year paper analysis shows that BIOLOGY is one of the easiest parts of the NEET exam to target as many students find moderate or easy questions.
  3.  Less time taking: - Questions asked in Biology are based on theory. There are no numerical or calculation based questions. So, if a student prepares biology well, he can solve biology questions in 40-45 minutes & can utilize the saved time to solve chemistry & physics questions.

To prepare the BIOLOGY portion well, students need to focus on preparation strategy, essential books and other study tips for doing a smart study to crack the NEET exam. But as we always say, syllabus is the most crucial aspect of any exam. Students should focus on knowing the critical area of any subject to focus on and properly utilize their precious time. We have listed below all the chapters along with sub topics from both class 11 & class 12 NCERT, which are included in the NEET biology syllabus 2023.

Class 11 Biology chapter wise syllabus for NEET 2023:
